New system from 1st August 2007
There has been a complete change in the way that the Transport Office charges for hiring vehicles. The new costs are:
Minibuses: £80 per 24 hours or part thereof
Vitos and MPVs: £55 per 24 hours or part thereof
Small cars: £35 per 24 hours or part thereof
Vans
V4 Van: £62 e.g. LWB Mercedes sprinter 4m internal length 1410kg payload
V3 Van: £50 e.g. LWB Transit 3.7m internal length
V2 Van: £44 e.g. SWB Transit 2.4m internal length 950kg payload
Car derived van: £40
Other vehicles: Cost price plus insurance
Please note to drive a V4 or V3 you must be a MiDAS minibus driver
The mileage charge has been abolished. Drivers should return the vehicle with a full tank of fuel. Sainsbury's filling station is open 24 hours and other filling stations are available.
The other change is that there are NO CONCESSIONARY RATES. If you wish to apply for a reduced rate, you should contact the Sabbatical Officer for your area, who will decide whether or not to subsidise your trip from his/her budget.
The fee for a MiDAS course is £20, which is billed directly to your Club/Society/Area
Why charge?
The hiring fee helps finance the leasing of the fleet of vehicles, taking account of the times both when the fleet is used heavily and when it is idle for long periods, and the relatively high cost of 9 seaters as opposed to 15 seaters.
