Welcome to the Volunteer Centre
Volunteering is a great way to make friends, help out and gain new skills. Student led groups organise a range of projects, from Fireworks displays, to tea parties. Many voluntary community groups rely heavily on the support of volunteers in order to carry out their work, so when students do give their time to an event or cause, their input is truly valued. These opportunities are also open to staff at the University.
As well as providing opportunities for students to volunteer, The Volunteer Centre is also responsible for ensuring that volunteer policy and effective volunteer management is being adhered to throughout the whole of the Students’ Union. Hence the Students’ Union was recently awarded with the Investing in Volunteers kitemark.
Employers too value the experience of volunteering. They see it as demonstrating initiative, commitment and a willingness to engage with the world on the part of the student. So, are you interested in volunteering?
