What We Do

The University of Bath Motorsports Club is a diverse, fun, adrenaline packed club for students who love everything motorsports. Our main objective is to provide our members with a range of activities that fulfil their racing needs! We use the budget allocated to us each year to subsidise events such as Indoor Karting and the British Universities Karting Championship (BUKC). We also organise F1 factory tours and racing simulator days at PureTech. If you can think of anything motorsports related you want to be involved in, please get in touch, we are always looking to expand the activities available to members.

Still not sure? We're always happy to answer any questions you have and will be holding a number of social events in which you can come and meet some of the current members.

A few frequently asked questions:

Do I need a driving license?

No! For most of our events no license is required.

Do I need any equipment?

Either the Club or Motorsports Venue will provide you with all the kit you need - but if you have your own kit you're more than welcome to use it. Check out our gallery to see the customised race suits we have available to purchase at certain times in the year!

What if I've never been karting before?

We welcome everyone, from total beginners up to Formula 1 drivers! The only condition is that you're a student at the University of Bath.

If I'm not very experienced, can I still race in the BUKC?

In short, yes! The BUKC runs a National Championship, and a Rookie Championship. We select our teams at the BUKC Test Days, and try to offer everyone the chance to race in the Rookie Championship if they don't make the main team.

Isn't it expensive?

It's £30 to join the club (this is the same as all other sports clubs at the university). Being a Students' Union sport, we receive an annual budget which allows us to subsidise events as much as possible, usually offering free transport to and from events as well. We also run a number of free socials, Formula 1 screenings (usually with free food), and events such as marshalling on rallies and sprints. These are free to attend, and you usually get a free lunch! If you think that costs are putting you off, speak to a member of committee.

BUKC prices for 2016 have now been confirmed:

Rookie rounds: £70

National rounds: £90

These prices include transport to and from the track.

Come & Meet Us

Send us a message if you have any questions in the meantime and we'll be more than happy to help out.

Those with a more competitive edge are more than welcome to compete in the British Universities Karting Championship in one of our four teams being fielded this year.
