Henley Regatta's

This year the Henley course provided some highs and lows for our crews between the booms. See how our crews did, watch some videos of their training in the run up to the Regatta, and read about this year’s Henley picnic.

Henley Women’s Regatta

First up in races down the booms was this year’s Henley Women’s Regatta, where we had three crews competing over the weekend. Sam Courty and her pairs partner Georgia Francis entered the elite pairs, unfortunately finishing just behind a tough Durham crew in the first round. Our Women’s Academic 4+ recorded a solid first round win against HMSG, setting up an incredibly exciting race against the reigning champions Exeter University. The race proved to be extremely close, coming down to 1/4L at the end as the four pushed them to the wire all the way down the course.

Going all the way however was Sara Parfett, who occupied the 2 seat in the Tees RC/BUBC composite senior 4x. This quad went on to set up an incredibly close final with Molsey, to produce a Henley Women’s Regatta win by 6 feet.

Henley Royal Regatta

Following onto Henley Royal Regatta saw our Men’s A 4+ prequalify for the Prince Albert CupA second 4+ and a Temple 8+ alos went to qualifiers but were unsuccessful in a very competitive year.

For the second year in a row our 1st Men’s 4+ met the eventual winners in the first round. This year was an incredibly quick Newcastle crew who pushed our crew to a well fought ¾ length race down the course. Hopefully a better draw next year will see the boys go through a couple of rounds.

Henley Picnic

This year saw a fantastic picnic in Butlers’ Field with all the usual Henley wars Stories, reminiscing about escapades in Score, human pyramids and Pimms. Thanks to everyone who came along, check out some of the photos below:
