About my role

Throughout the year the Students' Union uses research of students to ensure that the work which we do is reflective of students needs and views.

Issue Tracker

The Students' Union are in the process of creating a database of issues raised by students, Academic Reps, Faculty Reps, SU Officers and the University to enable effective tracking of an issue through various channels including Students' Union and University committees.

Student Opinion Survey (SOS)

This is an annual survey of all students run by the Students' Union to find out what your opinion is of the Students' Union and also the work which we do with the University.  Findings from the survey, amongst others, are used to inform our annual 'Top Ten' issues.  In 2016-17 the SOS will run in January 2017 and will enable you to tell the Students' Union what you think are the biggest issues affecting students at the University of Bath as well as providing feedback on your experience of the Students' Union.  The Students' Union will also be producing a student friendly version of the data collected through the survey and show you how the results are being used.

National Student Survey (NSS)

The NSS is an annual national survey run externally for the University.  The survey is filled in by final year undergraduate students and asks them to reflect upon their student learning experience.  Results from this survey are used by your academic reps and academic departments and the University to create action plans and to identify examples of good practice. The Students' Union also liaises with the University on key issues arising from the survey, and supports Academic Reps to negotiate issues important within your department.

Institutional Review

Every 5-6 years, the University is audited by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) to ensure it is maintaining high standards in its provision of Higher Education programmes. more about the process here:

As part of the QAA Institutional Review 2013, the Students' Union compiled the student-written submission (pdf, 13mb) detailing student opinion as required as part of the review process.
