How the Students' Union Works

The Students’ Union is run by a mixture of full time sabbatical officers (sabbs), the Union Council, staff and your contribution through Action and Working Groups.

The highest decision making body is the Annual General Meeting, to which all students are invited and it takes place in the first term.

The Union Council, made up of elected representatives will meet monthly, to hold the sabbatical team to account and present policy for all students. The elections for a position as councillors will take place in week three. Look out for further information on how to stand and vote in these elections.

Most councillors are responsible for an area, and will be a part of a working group (which sets policy) or an action group (that co-ordinates activity). The SU Executive (Sabbs officers) meets weekly and is responsible for the day-to-day running of the SU and developing strategy.

The agenda and minutes for Union Meetings can be found in the Meeting Repository.
