Students' Union Evaluation Initiative (SUEi)

The University of Bath Students' Union is part of the first group of Students' Unions to sign up for the Students' Union  Evaluation Initiative (SUEi). This is a quality assurance model which helps SUs to ensure that they continuously improve the services and activities they deliver to their members i.e. YOU!

BUSU is undertaking a detailed look at what we do and how we do it,and will shortly be asking all our members to help us to identify where we should be focusing our attention. The Assessment team will be visiting BUSU next year to review our work and to accredit us against the national standards.

Investor in People (IIP)

The IIP framework is based on research which looked at how successful businesses operate. To meet the IIP standard BUSU has demonstrated the following:
- Staff understand the aims of BUSU.
- BUSU has a clear business strategy including relevant training and development plans.
- Staff understand their jobs and know how what they do contributes to the BUSU.
- Staff understand what is expected of managers.
- Staff have the necessary knowledge and skills to help them do their jobs and so help BUSU thrive.
- The whole process of developing the people to help develop the organisation is evaluated and improved on an on-going basis.

Investor in Volunteers

University of Bath’s Students’ Union (BUSU) has achieved the Investing in Volunteers (IIV) Award, the UK Quality Standard for volunteer management.

In order to get the Investing in Volunteers award, BUSU had to demonstrate that it met the required standard in ten indicators measuring the way it recruits, supports and values volunteers and have the written policies and procedures in place.

For example, organisations have to demonstrate they are using good practice in  areas such as fair recruitment procedures, properly resourced programmes and adequate induction and support.

BUSU are one of only 8 universities so far to have received this award and are one of only about 4 Universities to have assessed all of their volunteer roles across the whole of the Students’ Union.
