Riding and Polo

Are you a talented rider or a complete beginner? Either way you will be catered for in the Bath Riding and Polo club, where we pride ourselves on being a friendly group who cater for all those interested in riding and polo regardless of past experience.

For beginners and non-competing members weekly lessons are organised at local riding venues for groups of riders with similar abilities so that each rider can get the most out of their lessons.  There will also be opportunities throughout the year to go out hacking.

For more experienced riders and those who enjoy competing we have two teams of five riders who compete in BUSA leagues, with riders representing the University of Bath up to national level in previous years. Four competitions are held each year at various places across the country which include both dressage and showjumping phases, and team training takes place each Wednesday at various riding centres including the prestigious Talland Equestrian Centre which we are lucky enough to have local to Bath.  Riders interested in competing should be happy to jump a course of approximately 2'6" showjumps and ride at prelim/novice level dressage.  Selection of suitable riders will take place at Summerhouse Equestrian Centre on 8th October. Come along to the sports fair on Mon 29th September to sign up.

In addition Bath riders have the opportunity to partake in regular polo lessons.  Last season the Polo team were victorious in the SUPA Intermediate competition and are keen to further develop their membership and skills this year.

In the past we have organised trips out to equine events, such as Badminton Horse Trials and the Monty Roberts tour. We also had a christmas pub ride last year. Any ideas of horsey events to attend are much appreciated and we will be trying to organise some more trips this year  In our spare time we also manage to attend regular socials at Score and the Snow Ball as well as venturing out into Bath town!

This year we hope to continue subsidising lessons and the cost of these will be confirmed soon when we receive our final budget.

If you have a car then it would be a great help to us if you could drive people to lessons! Please let us know and then once you've registered your car with the SU you will be able to claim back your petrol money.

Socials:

Wednesday 15th October:

Bath University Riding and Polo Club would like to invite you into Bath for a Bar Trot. Much like a traditional Pub crawl we plan to start off in Vodka Revolution's and visit a few of the better bars and pubs in Bath and if the night leads us to,(which it inevitably will) dancing in XL, Delfta's or such like.

It is a super idea to get to know your Club, and as planned after the social trial day it will be a chance build on relationships with people you may have met throughout the afternoon.

So dress to impress for what promises to be a fun evening, building on the success of the last social.

We will be meeting at around 8pm in Vodka Revolution if anyone needs directions or wishes to be met at the bus stop please let me know.
