Captain's Responsibilities

As a BUCS team captain you are responsible for ensuring that your whole team are registered students at the University of Bath as well as being fully paid up members of the appropriate club. Otherwise they are not insured and are breaking BUCS rules. This could result in a financial or points based fine for your team.

Below you can find some of the essetial forms you will need as a Captain.

Team Sheets

All captains need to hand in team sheets prior to BUCS fixtures, this is so we can keep a tally of who has played in what team and on what dates should any problems arise. This is also vital when it comes to your team members applying for Blues Awards.

Transport

Please try to get at least two of your team to take the minibus MIDAS test at the start of the season (people over 21 with 2 years driving experience), then you can book a union mini bus to get you to your fixtures. This will save time and money. If no drivers are available then transport will be arranged for you by the activities administrators but please note this could be train, coach or mini bus depending on what is cheapest rather than what is most convenient.

Playing Under Protest

All teams playing away should take a Playing under Protest form with them. These are available online. ALL PREMIER LEAGUE TEAMS should take a copy of the BUCS handbook to all fixtures or a photocopy of the relevant sections.

First Aid Kits

You may want to take a first aid kit to matches with you - particularly if you play contact sports such as Rugby and Hockey. First aid kits can be borrowed from the SA Office on receipt of a cheque for £50. Please note that this £50 will not be cashed unless the kit is lost. Any kit that is used for first aid will be replaced by the SA free of charge.

Kit

Each team captain should also take responsibility for the team kit, university colours (Royal Blue and yellow) should always be worn and teams should look clean and smart.

Match Fees

All teams competing in BUCS fixtures must pay match fees. All monies collected go towards helping with transport costs, affiliations, member insurance, umpire costs, coaching and entry fees.
It is captain's responsibility to collect match fees, the deadline to hand them in is Friday 4pm, if you do not pay you will be placed on University debt which can prevent you from graduating.

After The Match

Teams are encouraged to dress smartly after each match as you are not only representing yourself but your team, club and the University of Bath.

Unique University of Bath sports ties are available for all your players to buy from the SA Office. However as a captain you will have the chance to purchase a special University of Bath Captain's tie.

Results

All your results should be phoned into the SA office on Wednesday evening using the number 01225 383263.  Please leave a message if your match finishes out of office hours.

Teams that get their results in by 5pm on Wednesday will have their scores displayed in Score that evening.
