The Sports Association
The Sports Association (or SUSA) is the branch of the Students' Union that co-ordinates all aspects of student sport. We offer 47 different sports clubs, a number of intramural sports, recreational sporting opportunities, sports events, community volunteering projects, sporting qualification support and much more!
We are student centered and student led, with the democratically elected VP Sport leading the area, supported by a team of students on the Sports Exec, who all engage with the student-led Club Committees.
The Sports Association can be identified by the Sports Crest which is taken from the main University of Bath Coat of Arms. All students compete under this crest as representatives of the University.
The Department of Sports Development & Recreation (DSDR)
DSDR is the University department which allocates and maintains the Sports Facilities. They also manage relationships with National Governing Bodies and provide some student clubs with coaching staff. This year if you use the facilities you will have to pay the "Sports Pass".
More details on the Sports Pass are available here.
Team Bath is the brand for sport at the University of Bath. A common misconception is that Team Bath represents performance sport, in fact it is the name for the family of sport at Bath.
British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS)
BUCS is the national governing body that provides the structure for the majority of student leagues and tournaments. Once a member of a sports club, you may be selected to take part in a BUCS competition. The Overall League table that is compiled at the end of the year ranks all the Universities in the UK for sport. Last year Bath finished 5th, hopefully we'll be climbing back up the table next year!
Wednesday Sport
All undergraduates in the UK have Wednesday afternoons free. The majority of Sports have either fixtures or training then.
Vice-President Sport
Your VP Sport is elected each year in the Sabbatical elections to oversee the running of the Sports Association. For a year, student Sport is their job from both a representational and operational perspective. Got any questions or think we should be offering something we don't? Then please get in touch using the contact details on the bar at the bottom of this page.
Score
Score is the sports night in The Tub on a Wednesday night giving you a chance to celebrate with your team mates after yet another victory (we are Bath, we don't lose). All the profits from the bar go back into the Students Union and funding your Sports Clubs.
