What is the SA all about?

The SA or Sports Association is the largest sub group of the Students' Union and exists to provide opportunity for students within sport and exercise. Our ethos is 'Sport for All' something that all the staff and student volunteers strive towards.

The Sports Association runs several sports programmes as well as the 49 sports clubs here at the University of Bath. Whether you want to get sporting qualifications, borrow some equipment to play tennis with your friends or get a team together to compete against others there is something for you.

Structure

The Sports Association is headed by the area sabbatical - the VP Sport who is responsible for the strategic direction of the SA and is there to represent the views of the membership to the University. The VP Sport works closely with the Sports Department to try and improve the service of sport at Bath.

The VP Sport is also part of the SA Executive committee who supports the sabb in decision making and policy change in the area as well as having specific duties. The Exec consists of 12 student volunteers elected by the SA membership on a yearly basis as well as a sabb (VP Sport).

The 49 sports clubs are also run by student volunteers who are elected for a yearly term to help run their club. The SA provide training in finance and budgeting, health and safety, sponsorship and marketing and website maintenance. Further training is also available through the SU's Sorted programme.

The SA and all its clubs are supported by 3 full time staff members who work 9-5 Monday to Friday to support the VP Sport and the SA's army of student volunteers.
