Mountaineering

WELCOME FRESHERS 2011!
The Mountaineering Club is one of the most active clubs in the University and in 2009-10 we were awarded the Sports Associations prestigious ‘Club of the Year’ Award which was largely due to our dedicated and enthusiastic members who join and return year on year.
The Club has already planned fortnightly weekend trips away during both semesters to local places such as Dartmoor, Swanage and the Brecon Beacons as well as to places further afield like the Lake District, North Wales or the Peak District. Furthermore for the Inter-Semester Break in February we have organised a Winter Skills course to Scotland. This subsidised trip will enable members to learn new skills or to simply re-fresh existing ones through an experienced professional guide before going out and putting these skills into practise for a week. And, if this still isn’t enough for you, we also run a trip to Fontainebleau, France during the Easter break for a spot of bouldering in the sun.
The majority of our trips involve activities such as walking, scrambling, bouldering and climbing – in all cases weather permitting – and so, no matter what your interest is and to whatever degree you pursue it at, there will be something to suit you! Have a look below for this semesters trip dates as well as how to sign up; it would be great to see you on some of them!
Check out our website (www.bumc.org.uk) for more information on what we do and where we go, and feel free to contact any of the committee by email or in person with any questions you may have – we have loads of things planned for this semester...watch this space for further details!
