Lifesaving

Welcome to The University Of Bath Lifesaving Club. Formed in 2002 with the aim of teaching members skills that could ultimately save somebody’s life. We offer the chance to compete in competitions, gain qualifications, keep fit, have fun and work with the community.
Training times for 2011/12:
Wednesday 8pm-10pm
Saturday 3pm-6pm
Additionally we have two lanes available to Lifesaving Club members only- Friday 2pm-3:30pm and Wednesday 7:30am-9am.
Please note the prerequisites for the Pool Lifeguard Course are:
-Candidates must be/become current members of Bath University Lifesaving Club.
-Candidates must be able to swim 100m on their front and 100m on their back.
-Candidates must be able to swim 50m in 1 minute.
-Candidates must be able to surface dive to the deepest part of the pool to retrieve an object/manikin.
-As ever, a sports pass is needed to use the University's sports facilities including the swimming pool for this course.

The range of qualifications we offer include the Bronze Medallion, Life Support, Pool Lifeguard qualifications as well as the new RLSS Survive and Save programme. Not only do these offer the chance to build your own fitness and skills but when put into practice through our community outreach program make a great addition to your CV. The Pool Lifeguard qualifications are also an essential professional prerequisite to working as a lifeguard.
