Welcome to the University of Bath Gliding Club!

Hey! Welcome, or welcome back, to the University of Bath! Are you wondering what crazy hobby to take up next, are you an aviation fanatic or do you simply want to have an unusual day out?! Look no further - the Gliding Club can cater for all of those!

Membership Options

This year, we have two membership options:

Trial Flight Days - for those who have never flown before. We have 3 trial days, enough for 30 people, booked at the start of term, with plans for more throughout the year. For £20, you will have a ~10 minute trial flight and transport to and from the club.

Annual Membership - for those who want to regularly fly and train to go solo. For £60 you will have access to unlimited flying each year. There are only 15 memberships available.

What We Do

We fly from the Bath Wilts and North Dorset Gliding Club (bwnd.co.uk, link at the bottom of this page) which is only 25 miles south of Bath. The club has 3 two-seater and 3 single-seater gliders, a touring motor glider, winch launch and offers aerotows too.
All flights are instructed for free, and you are able to learn how to fly gliders for a very reasonable price - it will definitely be the cheapest form of flying you can do - so take advantage! We hope to get plenty of people through the syllabus and onto solo flying by time they leave university.
We run regular socials of all kinds - from night's out, to pub meets, cinema trips and even more aviation themed events like museums, airshows and talks.
As a member, you can get involved in many different aspects of the sport. You can soar through the skies and take in the beautiful countryside, take part in inter-university competitions, and continue your skills training so that you can fly solo (on your own). The sky is no longer the limit!
