Bath University Student Theatre - BUST

Bath University Student Theatre (or BUST, as we prefer to be known!) is - if you hadn't guessed by the title - a theatre company run by students at the University of Bath. We aim to perform, produce, direct and promote great theatre from a huge variety of genres, as much as we possibly can. Which ends up being quite a lot!
In the fifteen years since the society was founded, we have put on a vast array of theatre productions at venues in and around Bath. Currently, in addition to our regular October, December, February and March plays, we also take part in the annual Bath Fringe Festival - in 2011 we performed Marat/Sade by Peter Weiss and Art by Yasmina Reza, both of which were well-received - and in recent years have taken productions on tour to the Buxton, Cambridge and Edinburgh Fringe Festivals. Our 2008 performance of 'No Exit' by Jean-Paul Satre received a very good critical review and we endeavour to perform at an even higher standard this year. Have a look at our past productions and review pages for a closer look at what sort of things we've put on in the past.
We also take part in the deservedly notorious Show In A Week every year, and have a tendency to volunteer for most acting opportunities offered to us - this past year, for instance, we performed at the Student Union's annual Activities Awards in the Guildhall, while this year we have also been offered the opportunity to collaborate with the Little Theatre in Bath for their annual Halloween showing.
Our members study an eclectic mixture of subjects from Maths to French, and come from almost every corner of the globe (we're still working hard on finding an Antarctican member, but we're getting there!), but the one thing they definitely have in common is a passion for the theatre. This allows us to put on a very high standard of performance - which we are very proud of - and means that we are constantly looking for ways in which to raise the bar.
Of course, this doesn't mean that the 'BUST experience' is limited to acting alone - there are loads of other opportunities to get involved, whether that be through writing, directing or producing a play, or coming to our weekly workshops. Why not have a browse around our pages and see what else you can experience? We want to provide the opportunity to be involved in theatre to anyone who is interested - we aim to produce high quality performances, while at the same time having an awful lot of fun doing it!
If you do have any questions at all, please email the committee and they'll be more than happy to answer you. Or you could talk to them in person - they're quite friendly, really!
