This is the society for anyone doing their degree within the SPS (Social and Policy Sciences) department, taking a SPS related module as part of their own degree or just with a general interest in the social sciences.

Our aim is to bring social scientists together outside of lectures to discuss a whole range of social topics and to foster a friendly and supportive atmosphere conductive to learning and personal development by bringing students together through both academic and regular social events.

We aim to provide regular  guest lectures on a range of topics of interest to social scientists, including a repeat of last years popular "What sociologists do" by Allan Kellehear and Eric Anderson whose previous lecture entitled "Why are Straight Men Kissing each other?" proved a huge hit. We are also planning a repeat of the popular
"Sociological Tour of Bath"

News! Our official name change from SPSDS to SOAPS has now made it to this webpage. Also, all members should search for and join our facebook group "SOAPS - SOcial And Policy Sciences" to keep incontact and tell us your ideas.

YOUR SOCIETY NEEDS YOU... sign up now, one years membership is only £4! BARGAIN! All the funds go towards events that we are looking to hold this year. The more members we get - the better the events.
