Rocksoc is the best (and only) alternative music society at the University of Bath.
We're welcoming of anyone, no matter what type of alternative music you listen to. FORGET about stereotypes. People who join rocksoc are not all death metal fans! We welcome people with a wide spectra of musical tastes - from metal, punk, old school rock and even d&B (and much more besides). From Arch Enemy to ZZ Top, from good charlotte to Lamb Of Dog, whatever music you're interested in, there'll be another member who is as well. If alternative music is your thing, then rocksoc is the best place to meet like minded individuals. You don't even have to have long hair to join! (Although many of our members do sport rather fetching hair do's...).
We try our very best to put on a good range of events, and our new committee is working extremely hard to do just that! Our renowned Halloween and Christmas socials are not to be missed (our very own rock Santa making your Christmas celebrations with us a time you won't forget!), as well as our trips to various rock/alternative venues in Bristol and beyond. We already have plans to visit our favourite Bristol venue; Bristol's Bierkeller, not only for their infamous rock night, but also their amazing Bierkeller (if you haven't yet had the opportunity to attend a bierkeller, then come with and you will understand when we say that it is absolutely amazing... you could even say it rocks! ((ok, I know that that wasn’t even close to amusing...sorry)) ). In addition, we are planning trips to different gigs, local and otherwise, (as well as putting on some ourselves) so you can get that experience you only get seeing a band live.
Also, if you have or want to set up your own band our socials can be a good port of call to meet those likeminded people that will be instrumental (ha!) in achieving this. You will also be able to meet the lovely Rocksoc committee who will dutifully promote our Rocksoc bands and even try to give you a gig to play at! Hopefully we will also be able to put on some more accoustic jam sessions - which are a great way to relax of an evening, playing and/or listening to music. I'll keep you up to date with the progress we make in organising this.
A great new invention this year is our alternative newsletter...containing information on all your alternative needs; from alternative events to groups/albums to international concerts. Check out our first edition (which will be available to collect from us at the societies fair when you sign up to our mailing list), which will contain essential information about all the alternative goings on in Bath and surrounding areas and much more.

We'll also have our brand new website online soon, with more information about the society and the committee, as well as a photo gallery full of fun times. As fresher’s week approaches, we'll also have the details about our world renowned first social (no lie....we have members from China/Brazil/Poland and other far flung places who all had amazing times at this and other of our events), and other socials throughout the year posted on our facebook page and new website (hopefully).
Rock soc is THE place to meet likeminded people while at Bath university. So come join us and see what we are all about. You won’t be disappointed.
