A bit late BUT better than never... The German Society is back! Practise/speak German, experience German culture and most importantly: Have fun!!!

The German society is a fairly new society and is therefore not as established as many of the other societies you may find on these pages. Our committee (Chris, Philip and Jenny) has tons of good ideas for our next socials including German Movie Night, nights out, German cooking lessons, German Karnival, etc. Furthermore, as a member of our society we would like to encourage you to bring up any ideas or events you would like us to organise (as long as it is feasible of course J).

But don’t forget you can only attend these socials if you are a member... so log in and get joining - it is only 4 pounds for the whole year!! I hope people will continue to sign up as a bigger society is a better society: more people, more fun :-)!

If you are concerned about what it is what we do or whether you have to be German to be a part of this society, don’t worry. A lot of the members are GIMML, ESML etc. students who are just as non-german as many of you but enjoy practicing their language skills in a fun environment. I have also had people who have done German in their A-levels join up because they didn't want to loose the skills they have already gained.

We have finally planned our FIRST social:

When?           Friday, 28th November 2008 from 7:00 pm

Where?          Vodka Revolution for drinks and a first get together and see where the night takes us.

Theme?          Optional ‘Germany ‘ theme (Dirndl, Lederhose, etc.). You will recognise us without doubt J.

Our SECOND social will be a German Movie Night with drinks and snacks:

When?           Tuesday, 2nd December 2008 at 7:00 pm

Where?          On University Campus, room will be announced

Movies?         Selection: ‘KeinOhrHasen’, ‘Goodbye Lenin’, ‘Das Wunder von Bern’, and open to suggestions…

Free for members and 2 Pounds for non-members.
