The new committee of BAMSA 2009/2010 will be announced, and a review of BAMSA's financial report will be explained.

Hey all, the elections are up and running. Visit the Elections page (look to your left!) for more details.
Because there's a limit to the number of words you can have on the post description page, we have decided to include them here as well. Have a good read and see what you can give to the society as next year's committee!
Good luck!
President 08/09 - Sharon Boo
Being the president of BAMSA, the main role is to take care of the welfare of all members. Besides that, president also has to improve cooperation and effective allocation of tasks among the committee members when organising an event. Monitoring the progress of events and try to solve any problems raised by committees and members. Other than that, maintain a good relationship with the SU, international office, other societies and related organisations [such as sponsors & the United Kingdom and Eire Council for Malaysian Students (UKEC) ]. Being the president also acts as the representative of students from Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei & Indonesia to voice our view to the University Board.
In my opinion, responsible, good time management, good leadership and communication skills, enthusiatic, open-minded and cooperative are characteristics that contribute to being an all-rounded president. Good luck to those candidates that are interested to lift the name of BAMSA to a greater height.
Vice President 08/09 - Mariam
You need to help the committee members in decision-making process. Give advice and co-operate with the president in planning events and activities. Have a good relationship with all the committee members and the members. Makes sure that the decisions made by the committee members can be agreed by the members too. A vice-president is basically a middle person where he/she should be able to see the progress of the committee meetings are suitable and good enough to take care of the members welfare.
Secretary 08/09 - Nicole Kuek
Basically, you write down the minutes to all the committee meetings. You also fill in some forms when needed. A Secretary is like the file-keeper of the Society and keeps a record of things the Society has decided to do (through the minutes of the meetings). The Secretary also reminds the President of important SU meetings. A Secretary should be organised and have good note-taking skills. Like all members of the committee, the Secretary should also be ready to help organise events and provide general help when needed.
Treasurer 08/09 - Stefanie Kok
Main responsibilities include completing the budget request form in the beginning of the year, making sure that expenses do not exceed the budget for every event, handling cash/cheque claims with the Student Union and basically anything money related. As part of the BAMSA Committee, you may also play a big part in organising events, and providing general help wherever needed. Key skills needed would be good money managing skills, communication skills and patience (esp with dealing with the SU), and a basic understanding about accounting.
Social Secretary 08/09 - Jiat Yong
Most important thing to have is good communication and social ability. Main job is to bring all members together and make sure they know each other and have fun. It is also important to notify members who are inactive about activities organised by the society. Besides having a good relationship with committee members of other societies can also help to promote our activities and vice-versa. Promoting BAMSA night is also very important since its the biggest event of the year, and most importantly, keep enjoying meeting people and you never know you might just have free entrance to lots of events! =)
I.T Officer 08/09 - Lynette Lee
The I.T Officer is responsible for everything to do with technology, naturally. You will be responsible for sending out weekly/monthly updates to members, therefore your attendance at Committee Meetings is just as important. You have to keep the bathstudent and facebook websites up to date as well. Bookings of rooms for general meeting is your job too. One of your main responsibilities is also to design the BAMSA T-shirt which is meant to represent all members. For BAMSA night, which is our biggest event of the academic year, you will be required to be in charge of the technology side of things, such as gathering information for publicity and also create slideshows and videos for the night. etc. Its quite a handful of work to do, but its well worth it, as you'll learn so much on the way! :)
Sports Secretary 08/09 - Edwin Chen
Organise games whenever possible. Biggest task of the year would be organising the trip for Nottingham Games. Provide help to others and organise events when needed.
General Committee Members 08/09 - Andrew Ching, Dk Emma, Fredy Kong, Pei Ru, Kelvin Yim
Our Roles are very General, as you can tell from our title. We are super members of the club, we help set the standard for other members to follow, like regular attendance to Bamsa meetings and getting involved in BAMSA night. A general committee should be committed to the cause of the society and be ready to help organize events and provide general help when needed!
