General Meetings

 
It is important that you attend the SU AGM, Arts and Societies AGM and Arts and Societies General Forums as this is where the decisions are made, information is given out and the relevant executive commitees report to. Remember this is your forum for your area and your chance to have your say about how your area is run.

Please Note: If any society misses more than two meetings without apologies then their budget will be frozen and they will be deemed to be inactive

Student' Union AGM

All societies are required to send at least one representative to the Student Union AGM. Any socitey who does not send at least one representaive will not be eligible for a stand at the societies fair in the following academic year.

Arts & Societies AGM's

The Arts and Societies AGMS are held at the end of the academic year. Here, socity members can:

  • hear a final report from the Executive Committee and VP A & D
  • disucuss practice throughout the year
  • ask any questions
  • raise "Any Other Business"
 

Arts & Societies General Forums

The Arts & Societies forums are open to any member of a society who wants to influence how BUSU societies operate. Your society will be expected to send two representatives to each Arts and Societies Forum. Therefore, every society will have two votes. General Forums give members of societies a chance to:

  • Ask any questions they have about the work of the Executive Committee members.
  • Hear reports from the Executive Committee.
  • Check on actions that were previously agreed on.
  • Put forward suggestions, ideas and policies and have them discussed.
  • Raise "Any Other Business"
 

Individual Society Meetings

 

Annual General Meeting

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of a Society must happen each year. An approximate date should be included in your society's constitution. The Union suggests that the AGM should occur in Semester two enabling the new elected committee to have a substantial and thorough handover from the outgoing one.

General Forum

The General Forum is an opportunity to get all members of your society together to:

  • Ask any questions they have about the work of Committee  members.
  • Hear reports from the Committee.
  • Check on actions that were previously agreed on.
  • Put forward suggestions and ideas and have them discussed.
  • Raise "Any Other Business"
  •  

Committee Meetings

Committee meetings are a chance for the society committee to meet on their own.
