Job Descriptions

Each society should appoint the following officers through an election at your Society's Annual General Meeting (usually around April).

Chairperson

Oversees and coordinates the society committee, and Chairs the meetings. Liaises with the Union, and can approve financial requests for that society.

Treasurer

Responsible for the society's finances and the society's budget submissions. The Treasurer can also approve financial requests for the society.

Secretary

The exact responsibilities of the secretary depend on the size and nature of the society, but generally they look after making bookings, sorting rooms and ensuring that forms are given in and returned.

These positions are mandatory, but feel free to appoint other officers, depending on the nature of you society. The most popular include:

Publicity Officer

Gives press releases to Media Group (via Societies Publicity and Sponsorship Officer), and makes posters and fliers to advertise events etc.

Graphics and IT (GIT) Officer

Maintains society website which should contain details of the committee, the aims and forthcoming events of the society, how to join etc. This needs to be continually updated.
IT Officer Role Description

Social Secretary

Arranges any social events for committee and members. Social events are good fun and keep up the morale of your committee and members, showing them that you appreciate all the effort they have put into making your society work.
Social Sec Role Description 

A list of committee members must be given to the Societies Administrator as soon as they are known along with contact details and email addresses, a blank Committee contacts form is avaiable to download online through the 'Downloadable Forms' page.  If any of your committee contact details change, please let the Societies Office know.
