Welcome to Shag Week

Sexual Health Awareness and Guidance (SHAG) is a week of raising awareness on all aspects of sexual health. AWARE has run a sexual health campaign annually for a number of years always in the first week of December to tie in with International World AIDS Day on the 1st December. However, sexual health is an issue which affects students all year round therefore the information contained in this website is designed to be accessible at any time.

Whilst SHAG week is designed to be fun there is a serious message behind it; young people aged 16-24 are most at risk of sexually transmitted infections accounting for 60% of all cases of Chlamydia in particular. Knowing that many students will be sexually active we feel that it is important to ensure that everyone knows how to protect themselves.

As part of SHAG week we have produced a SHAG mag, this will be freely available during SHAG week or can be downloaded. There are lots of activities happening during SHAG week check them out on our What’s On page, including our very special SHAG Flirt with a superheroes theme to remind you to protect yourself!

If you have any questions about SHAG week contact aware@bath.ac.uk or if you are worried about any aspect of your sexual health then use our Useful Sexual Health Contacts guide to find a service who can answer your questions.
