Game Description
Lacrosse is one of the world’s oldest sports and is currently the fastest growing team sport in the US, Australia and here in the UK. The woman’s game has been established in schools since the Victorian times and films such as American Pie have helped to raise awareness of the men’s game. The result of this has been a boom in lacrosse clubs setting up around the country, primarily in universities with students wanting to play lacrosse at a competitive level.
The University of Bath Lacrosse club pride itself by not only being a hard working and competitive university team on the pitch but a close group of friends and social network off the pitch. With a large number of full club socials during the year ranging from a Christmas meal, Top Gun night and fancy-dress bar tours to weekly games of beer pong and nights out, you can decide your level of involvement in the social activities. Whether you’re looking for an opportunity to learn new skills, get fit, get physical and compete at the university level in the south leagues or if you’re looking for a chance to meet new people, go out and have fun either on or off the pitch, the lacrosse club has got something for everyone. Previous experience is common within the girls’ team but not essential and experience in the men’s game is a luxury. Everyone is welcome to join and unless told otherwise new members will be started at the very basic level, as we all were when we joined the club. Many people who have joined the club in the past have found lacrosse to be a highly enjoyable and addictive sport, taking away not only fond memories of the university but of the events and friends they have made during the time in the club. Please feel free to try it for yourself
The Club includes a women's team competing in the Wednesday BUSA South Premier League, a men's team playing in the Saturday West 1 mens league and a mixed team who mainly get lashed, the University of Bath Lacrosse club truely does provide something for everyone.
