New Activities Store completed

The Activities Office is pleased to announce the completion of the much anticipated and improved storage space for activities equipment.

The store has previously housed full height wooden cupboards allowing for up to 14 societies or groups to store their equipment and kit. This proved ineffective as there was a large volume of space wasted and the cupboards were not secure. The new storage features 24 metal lockers, each one lockable and sheltered. A selection of the lockers has the option of being full height with the removal of an intermediate shelf allowing for more versatile storage. Ideal for any big pieces of kit or stacks of boxes!

The installation of the lockers was completed in April 2009 and cost £6,000 with a proportion of the money being generously donated by the University Alumni Fund. The storage forms part of the Students’ Union ‘You Said, We Did’ initiative where we look to improve the facilities and provisions for our student-led societies and groups. You said you wanted more secure storage space - we did it!

The organisation was undertaken by the Activities Office, with Bath University Guides and Scouts society chairperson Dan Spencer and VP Activities & Development Hayden Arrowsmith officially opening the new store in April.

The storage space is available to societies and groups on a first come first served basis. The Activities Store is located just past the South Car Park towards the boundary of the university campus. Each locker has an individual padlock and is accessible by the main Activities Store key which is currently available through the Activities Office, with the hope to have this kept at the security desk in the library for the new academic year. Contact Jess Harrison, Activities Administrator, for more information (J.Harrison@bath.ac.uk).
