Can I have an electronic copy of the BUSU Stamp for my Poster?
If you would like an electronic copy of the stamp you will need to email your poster or flyer to suadvertising@bath.ac.uk or sucommunications@bath.ac.uk for approval. The stamp will then be emailed to you. However although you have an electronic stamp you will still need to come to the marketing office or reception and have your posters initialled. Abuse of the Electronic stamp could result in your club or society being fined.

Can I advertise any event?
Any student-run event on behalf of a club or society can be advertised on campus providing that it does not take place in a alternative night time venue on either a Wednesday or Friday night as this would put you in direct competition with Score and Flirt! respectively (events which all self-respecting students should be attending on a weekly basis!) Please ask the Marketing Department for more clarification on this policy.

Are there any other limits to what I can advertise?
This largely depends on what it is you are promoting. If you are advertising drinks offers for an event, you MUST also provide non-alcoholic alternatives. We can also not allow for any gambling to be advertised on campus and nothing else deemed as ‘unethical’ can be promoted. For any queries on this please check with the marketing department before you make your flyers and posters.

Is it free to advertise?
Student’s can advertise their clubs, societies and any related events for free. Likewise any students planning events as part of their course or running their own charity projects in association with Rag may also advertise for free.
If however, you want to promote your own profit making business on campus then you should come and see the marketing department to discuss your ideas as charges will apply.

What about if a company or a local business asks me to put up posters and hand out flyers for them?
Many companies try and escape advertising costs by getting students to do their promotional work for them. If someone is paying you to hand out leaflets or put up posters, they still also have to pay for advertising. Any unauthorised advertising material found will be removed and any students found disobeying the rules may face disciplinary action from the university.

Am I allowed to hand out flyers on the parade?
If you wish to promote a club, society, event or charity project by handing out flyers on the parade you are permitted to do so however, you must first obtain a permission letter for this from the marketing department.

What do I have to do if I want to do a kitchen drop?

Why are there so few poster boards?

Can I have a stall on the parade to register people/sell tickets?
If you wish to have a table/stall in front of the library to allow you to sell tickets for an event or to register people for your society then you should enquire at the library front desk.

Can I send an email out to everyone at the university telling them about my club/society/event?
We are not allowed to blanket email all Bath students however, we do have several mailing lists that students have opted in to. These are on a number of topics (e.g. campus events, charity work etc.) and we are able to send out relevant information to these groups. Please enquire for further details as we are resticted on how often we can do this.

What other ways can I advertise?
As well as posters, flyers and emails, there are a number of other ways that we may be able to help you. For instance, if you are running an event in Elements, then it can be added to the event listings on www.BathStudent.com. Please send details through to h.freeman@bath.ac.uk or sucommunications@bath.ac.uk and we will add this for you. This does depend on how many events are already listed.
We may also be able to put some artwork up on the Sub TV screens for you. This is done on a first come, first served basis and should be advertising something specific rather than just generally promoting a society or club. Similarly, banner adverts on www.BathStudent.com may also be an option depending on what it is you are promoting. Artwork will need to be provided by you to meet the specifications, for all spec click here.
Further, whilst we do not normally have the space to allow student groups to take out adverts in Impact, you may be able to get an article published talking about your event or action group. For more information on this, students should contact Jack Mitchell at Impact-editor@bath.ac.uk.

How do I get my club or society news on the website or in the local press?
If you club or society has achieved something which you wish to publicise then you can contact either the sports or societies administrators who can put this on your homepage news listings.
Contacts are: Jamie Brooks – Sports Administrator: j.A.Brooks@bath.ac.uk
Kirby Littlewood: K.Littlewood@bath.ac.uk
If you feel your news story is relevant to the whole university please email details to h.freeman@bath.ac.uk who can add this to the news feed of the BathStudent.com general homepage. Once we have it our own homepage we can forward it to the University who could add it to the University homepage if there is space available.
For details on how to get in the local press please see the PR hints and Tips section.
