Job Description: 

Title: Postgraduate Representative - volunteer

Hours: Flexible – from as little as 1 hour per week

Start date: June 2012, however we may require a brief meeting prior to discuss initial ideas

This new position opening for FW12 will provide new PG students a more enhanced Freshers’ Week experience. The PG Reps will work closely with the FWEMs to create a varied timetable, catering to the interests of a wide range of Postgraduates

Freshers' Week 2012 runs from 22nd September until 30th September

Duties and Responsibilities - 

  • To assist Freshers’ Week Event Managers (FWEMs) construct a varied Postgraduate timetable for Freshers’ Week 2012
  • Dependant on availability, to become the main point of contact with the new PG students throughout Freshers’ Week
  • Dependant on availability, to attend PG events with the new Postgraduates

Crew

Job Description:

Title: Crew

Hours: Between 20 and 40 hours over 9 days not including training

Start date: Week Commencing 17th September

The crew provide a key point of contact for all new students interacting with them on a daily basis, throughout Freshers’ Week and beyond. They provide a vital link between the SU and the new students, encouraging involvement in all the weeks’ activities

Duties and Responsibilities -

  • To support Freshers’ Week Event Managers (FWEMs) and the Captains in the running of Freshers’ Week
  • To welcome, support and mentor the new students during Freshers’ Week and the academic year
  • To work within the Freshers’ Week team to provide students starting in 2012 a comprehensive introduction to the University of Bath and the Students’ Union
  • To provide ongoing contact between the Students’ Union and new students throughout the academic year
  • To help with directing traffic, issuing and selling wristbands, evening events and any other activities during Freshers’ Week
  • To be the first point of contact for new students
  • To visit kitchen groups on a daily basis
  • To provide a friendly and fun yet safe environment for the new students, helping to make FW12 the best Freshers’ Week so far!

Person Specification - 

  • Must be enthusiastic
  • Must work well in a team
  • Must be able to communicate well
  • Must be dedicated to helping the new students settle into the University
  • Should understand the diversity of the incoming students
  • Should have a basic understanding of the Students’ Union and the University
