Vice Chancellor
The Vice Chancellor is effectively the boss of the university.
She overseas everything that goes on at the university from times of lectures to the funding the Students’ Union receives. Every year she welcomes new starters with a short speech in the sports hall, followed by a presentation from UNISMART about university life. Our Students’ Union President, Daniel O’Toole will also be welcoming you – it’s guaranteed to be entertaining so don’t miss it!
Departments
Each department’s inductions will vary significantly depending on what course you’re studying, whether it’s a sandwich or full time course, lecture or project intensive or whatever other combination you could have! No idea what I’m talking about? Don’t worry it’ll all be explained in the departmental inductions. Once the timings are arranged and you’ve accepted your place at Bath you’ll receive information from your department about the times and days of these. We’ll also update this page on the website so keep checking back!
Residences
Every student moving into University Accommodation must attend one of the Residential Induction sessions on arrival.
During the session you will find out about:-
- The Resident Tutors, their purpose, what they have to offer and how they can help .
- The Accommodation Operations staff so you’ll know who to contact when you have a problem with your room.
- Fire safety and Health and Safety of you and your belongings.
- The main rules and regulations you need to adhere to and the consequences you’ll face if you don’t.
- General information and advice about living in residence.
Students' Union
The students’ union inductions are presented by the sabbatical officers and will usually follow your departmental induction. The Sabbs will tell you all about their plans for the SU for the coming year and everything you need to know about getting involved be it from becoming an academic rep to captain of the lacrosse team! The induction will be concluded with a tour of the SU pointing out all the important places like the bars, finance office, sabbatical officers offices and more!
