Finding your way round campus

From the second that you arrive on campus you will be faced with directions that will make very little sense to you. But do not fear… as long as you know the basics, you will never get lost! Why not look at the maps of campus to help you find your way.The University of Bath adopts a numbering system for all of its buildings that sounds complicated, but is easy to learn once you understand it.

City

It is all centred around the Parade, which is the main walkway through the University. When standing on the Parade, looking at the library, all of the buildings to your right are labelled ‘East’ and all the buildings to the left are ‘West’. They are also numbered, with odd numbers to the ‘North’ of the Parade and even numbers to the ‘South’ of the Parade. Each floor in each building is then numbered, with the Parade level floor being 2.

At each end of the Parade are the distinctive university towers, Norwood and Wessex House, which are occupied by residences and administration respectively. Most of the Union’s amenities can be found at the base of these towers. Below Wessex House is the Fresh supermarket, Fresh Oriental, the Post Office, a Natwest bank and STA Travel shop. Below Norwood house is the main Union Corridor, with the Union Shop, the Plug Bar and Elements, the Terrace café, the Pitstop sandwich bar, the Costa coffee shop, the Perfect Pasty shop the SU Reception and a laundry outlet.

At the end of the Parade, beyond Norwood house is the bus station, the East car park and the Eastwood accommodation.
