Before You Arrive

This section explains all the things you have to do before you arrive.

Registration

Registering with the University of Bath is the most important step you must take before you arrive on campus. You will need to register on-line with both the University and the Students’ Union

before you arrive

Once you have been accepted as a student, you will be sent your University username and password in order to complete the Registration-on-Line (ROL) process.

Follow these five easy steps

  1. Visit www.bath.ac.uk/registration-on-line
  2. Proceed to register on-line. Follow all the steps described on screen to successfully register with the University (you will have to pay, or commit to pay, your fees)
  3. Tick the box to ‘join’ the University of Bath Students’ Union, so that you can become a member of societies, sports clubs and use the Students’ Union’s facilities.
  4. Complete the registration process by following the instructions and visiting BathStudent.com (the Students’ Union website) – update your profile, opt-in to various membership services and find out about the Students’ Union services.
  5. Visit the Freshers’ Week 2008 website at BathFreshers.com – get your Freshers’ Wristband, your Fresh Groceries Voucher, NUS Extra card and join some societies and sports clubs.

Advice

Here are a few things that you will be thinking about before you arrive at University. For more in depth information, and to get loads more helpful advice, try the Advice section of the website.

Packing

Leave yourself plenty of time and make a list of everything you will need. The University provides sheets, pillows, duvets and covers, and kitchens come with fridge-freezer, oven, hobs, kettle and microwave.

Papers

There will be a few bits of paper that you will need to bring with you that will make your arrival and collecting your FW08 wristband, NUS Extra card and Library card easier.

Please ensure you check which day the University Accommodation office has asked you to arrive. Arrival days are split so that we can safely control the influx of Freshers. Please only arrive on the day that the University has asked you to.

You will also need a form of photo identification (driving licence or passport) and your registration letter.

Insurance

This is essential, and can often be forgotten in the rush and excitement. Included in your accomodation contract is a basic policy from Endsleigh insurance, but this needs to be activated before you are covered. Any all risk items, computer equipment, etc need to be added onto your policy seperately; visit Endsleigh here for more details

Finances

You should have contacted you Local Education Authority (LEA) and the Student Loans Company (SLC) to arrange tuition fee payments.

If you don’t have a bank account, shop around for one with long term incentives – an interest free over-draft is handy for when times are hard.
