Freshers' Week Team
EVENT MANAGERS
Hi, we are the Freshers' Week Event Managers; James, Martin and Tim. We have been
working hard since March to make sure we create the best possible Freshers' Week here at
Bath. During the week we will be wearing red 'Event Manager' t-shirts and will be
able to assist you in any way possible.
If you have any questions please don't
hesitate to approach us! Also, if you have any queries at all about Freshers' Week
before you arrive feel free to email us at
freshers-week@bath.ac.uk or give us a call on 01225 383424.
CAPTAINS
Alongside us will be a group of approximately 30 Captains who help us run the
events throughout the entire week. Captains will be wearing orange t-shirts and are
also there to answer your questions about the University and Freshers' Week as well
as making your first week here highly enjoyable.
CREW
Now we get to your guides, the Freshers' Week Crew. The Crew are here to be your
close contact and help you settle in during Freshers' Week. They are responsible for
taking you on tours of the campus and the city as well as taking you to the main
events going on right the way through the week. There are around 320 volunteers
wearing blue 'Crew' t-shirts who will be working in smaller teams to look after the
different residences on campus and will be there to greet you upon your arrival.
SABBS
Throughout the year the Students' Union is run by six
Sabbatical Officers
(Sabbs). The Sabbs are ordinary students who are elected before Easter each year.
During Freshers' Week they will be wearing purple 'Sabb' t-shirts and one of them
will always be found on a couch outside the library with a hot cup of tea. They will
also be conducting your Students' Union inductions.
BACKSTAGE
The Backstage Technical Services Crew work hard behind the scenes to ensure that
the main events run smoothly without any technical hitches. If the technical services
takes your fancy then pay them a visit in the Founders Sports Hall during the Arts
Day on the Saturday of Freshers' Week to find out more about what they do.
MEDIA
Throughout the week you will probably bump into someone from Student Media. They
will be documenting the week in the Freshers’ Week newsletter (“mintyFresh”) or with
radio updates on URB and online and on the Union TV screens (courtesy of CTV).
