You said
That Fresh was too expensive. However when making price comparisons with other competitor stores Fresh was in fact cheaper or similar, a perception issue needed to be addressed.
We did
We increased the number of promotional activity within the store by installing themed promotion ends highlighting 'Buy One-Get One Free' offers and introduced promotional leaflets highlighting our regular savings, which were distributed to all departments on Campus and the general student body.
You said
You didn't realise Fresh is run by the Students' Union. If you knew this fact you'd be more likely to use Fresh.
We Did
Produced printed carrier bags to reinforce the direct link with the Students' Union with a message that all profits go back to students' union for the benefit of students.
You said
The use of two banks of tills added confusion and resulted in lengthy queues. It was recommended that the first service area was extended to four tills to improve overall service and reduce queuing times. The second service area to be closed off, providing more space for shelving which would create more of a supermarket feel, to enhance the overall service.
We Did
Closed the second service area and increased the number of tills in the first service area to five, this reduced the queuing times and confusion amongst shoppers. We guaranteed that no shopper waits more than five minutes from the back of the queue. The queue is more manageable and has a more free flow feel to the shopping experience.
We created more shelving space and purchased a purpose built unit for displaying Fruit and Veg., allowing us to extend the range and stock of organic produce, leading to in increase in sales of Fruit and Vegetables by 66 per cent.
