Terms of Reference

  1. Mandy Wilson-Garner presented the Terms of Reference                                                                                  
  2. SENDA Action Plan and Disclosure
    Carol Lacey to work with Hayden Arrowsmith to finalise and rename the action plan.

    PH to work on a disclosure policy/strategy for all student activities including Volunteering etc to use
  3. RACE Action Plan
    Anna Boneham and Dave Austin reported on this Action Plan and agreed to chase up actions outstanding. They also need to update it further by referring to the International Student Action Plan and talking to Aste.
    Dave Austin to work with sabb team to look at the feedback/complaints procedure for the SU as this will need to be monitored by student group.

  4. SU Equality Plan
    Mandy Wilson-Garner presented the updated SU Equality Plan and agreed to chase up actions. Dave Austinto meet with Mandy Wilson-Garner to update Equality Policy.

  5. Gender/Race/Disability Review Schemes
    Carol Lacey and Mandy Wilson-Garner gave a report on these schemes. They are all on the VCs website and have an SU section. Impact Assessments are currently underway and two SU areas have been picked; representation and the commercial areas.

    CL to co-ordinate this work.  ACTION: Carol Lacey
  7. Diversity in Academic Practice ~
    Tom Milburn reported on the induction survey results and DAPP’s discussion on utilizing the diversity of students in group work i.e. a Chinese Economy Project
  8. Update from University Equal Opportunities Committee and Network
    Carol Lacey reported on the University staff survey and how several staff had talked about its lack of anonymity etc.
  9. Staff Training Mandy Wilson-Garner reported that she had undertaken an audit of staff and areas and whether they had attended any Diversity Training through Horizons or elsewhere. Mandy Wilson-Garner to contact areas where no training had taken place.   ACTION: Mandy Wilson-Garner
  10. Student Equality Group and Rep
    This is being reviewed in the Governance Review.
  11. Diversity Website
    This needs to be revitalised and updated. Mandy Wilson-Garner and Edward Bell to contact Darron Thevarajah.

  12. Accessible Venues
    All areas to link to the central information on the Bars Website. ACTION: ALL
