Hey everyone,
I'm Scarlett, your Vice President of Welfare & Diversity, and my job is to fully represent the needs of postgraduate students, among many other types of students, so that you can make the most out of your time at university.
Nowadays, employers are looking for a more well-rounded individual and so its important that the Students' Union (SU) offers a range of activities for you to be involved in, to improve your self-development and widen your skills, both of which will strengthen your overall employability. We want to be able to fulfil your needs and expectations while you're studying here, and we understand that different people will have different interests and aims from undertaking a degree at Bath.
At the Students' Union our goal is to provide an immense number of opportunities, such as volunteering, part-time work, involvement in various sports and societies, and much more, so that you can make the most of your time here. Besides this, we want you to feel supported and understood, and make every effort throughout the year to engage with all types of students to find out the sort of things that might be bothering you and help to implement change.
Throughout the year you will notice that there will be a range of activities and events for you to take part in. There will also be various campaigns taking place that you can find out more about. These campaigns range for providing important information on 'personal safety' and 'the dangers of alcohol and drugs', to the larger national campaigns such as the 'fight for a better higher education funding system'.
University like is what YOU make it. You really do get out of it what you put into it. Make the most of your time here by finding out what your Student Union has to offer. You are always welcome to come and see us in person on 1East Level 3. Alternatively, you can email sabbs@bath.ac.uk.
I wish you the best for the year ahead, and hope to meet lots of you along the way.
Best wishes,
Scarlett
