AWARE Volunteering
 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To work in groups to co-ordinate, produce and participate in awareness raising campaigns
  • To work alongside staff in the AWARE Centre carrying out tasks as required (e.g. dealing with student queries, making sexual health packs, ensuring information displays are up to date.
  •  

Opportunity:

To gain experience in marketing, advertising, team work, project management as well as knowledge of student support services at the University of Bath and key student issues.  There will also be the opportunity to get involved in 'change' campaigns, actively campaigning for change.

You will receive an AWARE Volunteer t-shirt, free training, recognition from the Students' Union, the opportunity to work towards a Millennium Volunteer award (a nationally recognised volunteering award), and experience of working in a group to produce high profile awareness raising campaigns on campus.

Useful Previous Experience:

Project management or marketing, website editing or an interest in student issues.

Time Commitment:

  • One academic year minimum
  • 1 hour per week (in AWARE)
  • 1 hour per week meeting with campaign group
  • Campaign weeks - as much time as you are able to give!

Training and Support:

One day of Campaigns training Saturday 11th October 2008 (semester one) and two evenings of 'AWARE' Centre training Tuesday 14th October 2008 and Tuesday 21st October 2008 (semester one).
Ongoing support from AWARE staff and opportunities for further training.

Opportunities for placement students

If you are going on placement in semester one but would still like to volunteer with AWARE in semester two during the 2008-09 academic year then it is advisable to still complete an application form and send to AWARE.  This will enable staff to process your application and reference speeding up the process for your return in semseter two.
