Legal Advice
The AWARE centre hosts a solicitors surgery, once a week during term time. This is a free of charge one-off consultation lasting 15 minutes with a solicitor from Stone King Solicitors of Bath. This is a time for you to talk to a solicitor about any issues for which you feel that you require legal advice (you are advised to talk to AWARE first to find out if legal advice is appropriate for your situation or whether there are other advice agencies who can help). If your issue needs more time or you need a specific legal service (eg representation, witnessing of signatures etc) then the solicitor will be able to explain the procedure to you and any possible costs (and how you can get help with costs) which may be incurred.
Solicitors surgeries are held on a Tuesday lunchtime and are by appointment only. Contact AWARE to make an appointment before the morning before the surgery (ie Monday morning). If your enquiry is not during term time, please contact AWARE and we can contact the solicitors regarding the possibility of having a consultation by phone or email with you.

AWARE holds the Community Legal Advice Quality Mark for Generalist Advice. This means that AWARE's quality of advice and policies and procedures have been assessed by an external agency. Community Legal Advice can give you contact details and information on legal firms around the UK, so if you are on placement in London and need the details of your nearest solicitor who will offer free legal support to students you can search on their website.
