Among the first in the UK, our Students’ Union will be holding Academic Representative Elections online. For the vast majority of departments and degree programmes, nominations will be open from 6th to 10th October and voting will be held from 13th to 17th of October.
Students running for an Academic Representative position for their course and year are expected to upload a picture and a short manifesto to the Academic Rep Elections section of www.BathStudent.com.
The Academic Representation Centre is based in the Students Union 1 east level 3 corridor. It provides a number of services and functions including:
* Support for academic representatives (training, information, advice)
* Support for Student representatives on University Committees
* Support for students studying at different locations
* Research on Student issues
* Higher education news and information
We work closely with many other areas of the University to provide a link between the University and students to raise student issues and work on ways of developing and enhancing the educational experience of students.
For any information, queries or comments, please contact us on arc@bath.ac.uk
There are three permanent professional staff members who work within the Academic Representation Centre, alongside the SU Vice-President (Education).
SSLC Code of Practice (QA 48), a policy guide on how Staff/Student Liaison Committees ought to be run, may be of further interests to all student and staff members of SSLC.
All Academic Representatives are invited to Students’ Union’s Academic Council meetings which deal with larger academic issues affecting all students across the University. Academic Council offers a platform to help find a common solution to students’ issues and gather student opinion on important University issues and projects.
Meetings are held separately for Undergraduate and Postgraduate students to help both groups focus on issues which are more relevant to them.
At the end of each academic year, all Academic Representatives are invited to an awards ceremony where they receive a certificate, the official recognition for their work. Additionally, the SSLC Chair of the Year will receive formal recognition for the year’s work.
