Committees
At the University of Bath there are a number of committees and it can get quite confusing!

Here is a flow chart to help you get to grips with the main committees that you will probably come across:

What is an SSLC?
An SSLC is a fundamental communication channel between students and their Departments. It provides a forum for Academic Representatives to discuss Department related teaching, learning and student support with members of Staff. A SSLC should be informed of any major changes to the course structure, curriculum or syllabus and it is not to be used to air personal grievances. SSLCs meet at least four times a year and there is a code of practice that you are welcome to look at under the link ‘Academic Representatives’ and then ‘Reps Resources’. Departments and Academic Reps have the responsibility of taking up actions on an issue and reporting back to the students. It is important that a positive atmosphere exists in SSLC meetings where a constructive criticism approach is retained. If an issue is not resolved at a Departmental SSLC meeting, the issue will be carried through the flow chart above to the relevant committees to get a positive outcome.
