Academic Representatives

WELCOME!!

Academic Representatives exist to represent students' opinions at a Department and University-wide level.

These pages are for students as well as Academic Representatives (also known as ‘Reps’).Within this area of the site you can find out how to become an Academic Rep, what reps do, and much more.

Academic Reps are there to make sure that you as students get the chance to have your say about your course and how it is run. Academic Reps are students, chosen by their fellow students, normally on their same course and in their year. They raise your concerns for you at Staff Student Liaison Committee and Academic Council meetings and contribute your ideas and basically get involved in how your course is developed and run. They make sure that the University knows how you feel about your course and what you want to happen. They let the people who make the decisions know when you are unhappy, and what the problems are. So, if you have any academic related problems or just any ideas at all about your course, tell your Academic Rep!

If you have an issue and want to talk to your rep about it just email the name that will soon appear on the right. This box displays your Academic Rep and you can find the names of other Academic Reps on the appropriate link on the left. The University supports the Academic Representative scheme as Reps are important to both University and the Union, they help to address any issues (good or bad) that the students may have which could effect their student experience or their course.

As an Academic Rep you are also a volunteer and as part of IiV (Investors in Volunteers), Bath University Students' Union (BUSU) ensures that there are procedures to support volunteers. To see what rights and responsibilities are available as a volunteer please click on this link: www.bath.ac.uk/volunteering then click on ‘volunteer policy’.
