Become a Sabbatical Trustee
The upcoming Sabbatical elections will choose the students who will form the Students' Union sabbatical team for the next academic year. When elected, they will spend a year representing all the students at the University of Bath, as well as working to develop the Students’ Union.
Remember: Any student at the University can run for a Sabbatical position.
What is a Sabbatical Trustee?
Sabbatical Trustees, or Sabbatical Officers or ''Sabbs" (they all mean the same thing), are ordinary students who are elected by you to lead your Students' Union. They are responsible for the strategic direction of the Union, as well as being here to represent you to the University and also locally and nationally. Sabbs are the voice of the students. They may represent individual students, groups of students or the whole student body at the University of Bath on any issue which affects students, be it welfare, academic, social, financial etc.
They make up the majority of the Students' Union Board of Trustees and, therefore, have legal responsibilities. There are also three external trustees, who are appointed. The Students' Union is not yet a registered charity and derives its charitable status from its parent institution, the University, but it will have to register in the next year. "The Essential Trustee: An introduction" is a Charity Commission publication and further information can also be found on their website. The Students' Union governing documents can be found here.
The elections are fast approaching. This is your chance to make a huge contribution to the University and to be a voice that is heard.
